It must be something in the water, but every year there seems to be more and more things to see and do around the lake. This year sees the launch of new festivals and events and also long-standing classics such as the Montreux Jazz Festival.

June 2009
- Bol d’Or is the most important European inland lake regatta, attracting over 100 competitors every year
- Fête de la Musique , which takes place on 21 June every year.
July 2009
- American National Day in Geneva is the largest 4th of July celebration outside of the USA
- Musiques en Stock is a free rock festival in Cluses
- Cinélac hosts open-air cinema in Geneva and Lausanne
- Montjoux Festival is an open-air music festival in Thonon-les-Bains
- Montreux Jazz Festival opens its doors on the 3rd of July
- Lake Parade is the Geneva equivalent of the Love Parade
- Verbier Festival is set in the extraordinary Swiss Alps and has a reputation for artistic excellence in classical music
- Paleo Festival is an international open-air festival with a real sense of carnival, situated above the town of Nyon
- Evian Masters is a world-class golf tournament on spectacular grounds
- Viva la France! Bastille Day, on 14 July, is a French national holiday with fireworks and celebrations.
August 2009
- Swiss National Day parades and fireworks
- Assumption Day in France fireworks
- Fête de Genève is a week-long festival of events and music
- Rock n' Poche Festival in Habère-Poche is an open-air festival
- Festival des Artistes de Rue Now in it's 17th year, the streets of Vevey will, once again, come alive with street artists of every kind: jugglers, mimes, actors, acrobats, fire-eaters and clowns from all over the world.
